Seven Angels No.5 St Barachiel
BuySt Barachiel is a single malt whisky with a lovely balance between French and American oak, spiced with an elegant note of dark mature wine. The malt character is evident and underlined by a floral note of rose petals and mature fruit. This whisky has a fine-tuned approach, showing that it has matured and developed, long and well in the temperature controlled warehouses. The barley and the long fermentation time contributes with green notes and the air dried oak balance this to an adult taste.
Scent and taste
Without water; first a scent of freshly baked bread with floral notes of rose petals. This is followed by an elegant note of liquorice with hints of smoke. It has a fruitiness with nuances of apricots and ripe apples together with a delicate scent of marzipan. The background is bready with hazelnut and peach. Taste without water is full and well balanced. The taste is mid-tongue, with good harmony between acidity and sweetness, simultaneously providing a pleasant mouthfeel. The aftertaste is long with an oiliness in balance with pepperiness.
With water ¼; freshly baked almond bun is the first note reaching the nose. Vanilla is mixed with mature scents of toasted wood and rose petals. Apricot marmalade on a chocolate truffle with topping of coconut comes to mind. A delicate note of liquorice and peat creates a foundation to the enticing candy notes. Taste evolves with water, unravelling the soft flavour over the palate. Although it still has an elegant pungent bite that provides a multifaceted taste profile. The acidity and sweetness from the oak is well balanced mid tongue and creates a relatively long aftertaste.
